Apathy 03:08
The angry man preaches what he believes Like an old dog chasing cats in his dreams My cold wet feet, across the sidewalk shuffle And in the shops I hear the hustle and the bustle from you You cannot make me feel for you We think it all up and we write it down Then we tuck it away where we know that it can’t be found I just got to thinking about me and you When your gone, will the sky be blue? You cannot make me feel for you And somehow I know on my last given day All that I have will be given away I’ll only live as a thing of your past. I’ll only live as long as your memory lasts

about

Recorded mere months before the band's debut album was recorded, The "Backseat of Tomorrow" EP is the sound of youthful enthusiasm and is a document of a band coming together and learning there way around the recording studio. Initially conceived as a demo to get gigs, the experience nevertheless laid the groundwork for their next sessions. Self-produced, it's low-fi quality was driven by lack of experience as much as it was due to time and money constraints.

While there were thoughts at the time to re-record the mostly live tracks, these were soon abandoned as the band was moving fast and was already working on new material for their proper debut album. That isn't to say the EP isn't without its charm. As a collection of demos, the record holds up quite well on its own. The songs are well formed and already possess the characteristic O5 sound. For that reason, the band found it worthy of releasing.

about

Ordinary 5 Minneapolis, Minnesota

Formed out of a mutual love of late 70’s and early 80’s post-punk, and 80’s alternative and jangle pop, the "O5" distill their influences into a sound that is reverent of the past, but uniquely their own.

Powered by music that alternately chimes, swirls, chugs, and soars, the lyrics eloquently capture the drama, hijinks, joys and frustrations of young adulthood,
